Steve's Memorial Fund

Just to let you all know whats happening.

The forum itself has so far donated around £1200 between members. Some more has been given or is being given by family and friends, and Steve’s employer is also sending some as well.

So a great big ‘Thank You’ goes out to you all.

So far the only money that has gone out has been to pay for the Chipmunk flypast, and the paypal fees of course were taken out for those who paid that way.

The beneficiaries of the fund are to be as follows:

1. A memorial bench.

2. A donation to the Radiography Department at Addenbrookes.

3. A donation to the Battle of Britain Monument.

4. A donation to the Grace Spitfire.

Three places I’m sure Steve would have approved of the money benefitting.

If anyone still wants to make a donation, you are welcome to of course. Details on this thread: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=45992&highlight=paypal

Ditto what TMN said for me. That’s a fine list of beneficiaries, and I’ll have to get to that pub somehow!

Great job Mark, thanks for all the effort you have put in on behalf of everyone.

Having never yet been to the Red Lion, it would be a valid reason to check it out.

Cheers Mark for posting that, it’s one I’ll certainly treasure.

You could have Photoshoped a few inches off the waistline though!!

Steve might have been telling me about the two copies he’d just bought, at a rediculously cheap price, of the book on the round the world Chipmunk flight which he was going to sell on ebay for a nice proffit. He was really chuffed at getting these two copies, having already got one for himself.

Geoff.

My mate popped into work today to print some pics off. I stole this off him.

The most likely site is at the Red Lion, subject to family wishes, as he always came there after the shows. They have said it’s fine with them. So, no excuse for you now – and I’m sure it’s about time I bought you a pint Geoff.

Mark, it’s a good idea to donate some of the money towards the Battle of Britain London Monument, as Steve was so determined to run the London marathon to raise money for it, although sadly it came to nothing as he couldn’t get a place.

Personally I’d like to see the bench at Duxford (tank Bank?), at least I could get to see it then, but will go along with what’s decided.

Geoff.

Snapper, thanks for collecting the money. Where will the bench be? Old Warden, Duxford or somewhere else perhaps?
