I believe that Hoskins cartoons & phrases were WW2 items.

I was lucky enough to meet Brian Hoskins several times while he led the Reds through their transition from Gnats to Hawks .

I wasn’t aware of that phrase , how did it come about ?

I believe it was from Roger Bacon’s? page in Flight International. There was always and old photo and a speech bubble with Hoskins doing something or failing to do it!

How soon we forget !!

Brian Hoskins was leader of the Red Arrows formation aerobatic team.

I understand that that there is still to this day a team who also use that name, though they seemingly perform just flypasts.

I realise the thread title is a reference to a well known cartoon, but does anyone have the history behind the unfortunate “Hoskins” character?

It was the engine cowl shape and two blade prop with odd hub that made me wonder – Seibel 204 looks to have had similar props so trekbuster looks to be on the button?
