Stirling relic lost-stolen from Dutch museum

This week the Stirling Aircraft Project were due to recieve this part from the Stichting Aircraft Recovery Group in Holland . It is a vital missing link in our construction of the cockpit canopy or ”coupe” CAD model. This is a section of the central spine of the canopy roof which contains the pulley block above the trim controls. We have no drawings for this section and this represents a significant blow to our progress towards re building a canopy. It would seem that the item has been stolen from display in fort Veldhuis.
If anyone has information as to its location or has seen it for sale please PM me and I will pass info onto the museum. Regards Kevin

Seems like an odd bit to pinch when there are much nicer more recognisable bits on display…it’ll turn up.

Thank you both. I met Johan on Wednesday and he thinks that the item was on display and not in Storage. I made sure it was OK with him to appeal for info. It was good to see him again and catch up on what your group is doing. Lets hope it turns up. Best regards Kevin

I doubt that as only Johan and I decide what is surplus and what not. We know of course that this part is very important to the Stirling Project.
I will have a further look this saturday.

Absolutely certain it’s not with us Cees, we only brought back 2 parts one of which Johan took back yesterday when he met with Kevin and I think he implied that it had gone missing from your stores, I’m sure Kev’ll be along later to confirm this. TBH, I’d think the most likely event would be that it has been accidentally disposed of.

Hi Kevin,
Are you sure it’s stolen? Johan and I spent some time to look for it in our stores and indeed could not find it. Theft is impossible with 1,5 metre thick walls and heavy doors being an old fortress from 1895. Are you sure it wasn’t already loaned to the project?
Cheers
