Less than I thought. He should be alright using PAW’s 0.5mm control line wire which as you will see from the chart has a 57lb breaking strain.

I make it 38 pounds pull
By: skyskooter - 7th April 2013 at 18:21
It weighs 95lbs. If it is to fly on 100 foot lines at say 25mph. what is the centrifugal force going to be and hence the pull on Mr. Nelson and his mate standing in the centre?

Looks impressive, not sure about the control line bit though….
“It will be flown next year in a large circle on thin steel cables attached to Mr Nelson and a friend to control its in-flight functions”

Brilliant news, Italeri seem to be releasing some classic RAF type high quality kits, something I wish that Airfix would get to grips with.

‘
Many thanks for the ‘heads-up’ Richard.
I’ve been obsessed with Short Stirlings since I was a kid & built my first of several Airfix Stirlings circa 1969/70′ onwards.
It was ALWAYS that famous Roy Cross box art that got me going on it (seeing it being readied-up for a mission) & as a child I often wondered if I’d ever get to see the ‘real’ airfield where it was depicted (a vivid imagination here !).
Fast forward some 25 years, one long marriage, two-kids & a house move some 115 miles North later…. & not only do I have two Airfix coasters (of ‘it’), but also more Airfix kits (nostalgia), plus FOUR of the gorgeous but expensive Corgi diecast Stirlings & a Honda CB.900-F that I’ve been riding (for fun) around the periphery of “that” base since 2006, North Creake, the RAF Bomber base that captivated my imagination all those many years ago.
I even kept my ol’ Moto-Davida vaccuum gauges in an Airfix/Roy Cross/Type.3 “North Creake” box & managed to accquire several (‘mint’) old Esci 1/72nd scale decal sheets which have LJ.525 ‘EX-R’ on ’em 😀
That ‘box-art’ was my fave until the 75 Sqdn (‘AA-D’) Wellington got replaced by that “one engine shot-out over the Zuider Zee”
(425 Sqdn) ‘KW-E’ job, circa 1973/’74.
(bit of sad irony here, as that actual a/c was “lost” 70 years ago, next week !)
Anyways, those inspiring box-art’s left their mark & I’ve been kinda smitten with North Creake since (& Bexwell/Downham-Mkt), so I was chuffed to see & read what a cracking-job this old boy Tony Nelson has acheived with that huge model….. here’s hoping it goes to a responsible home who’ll look after it & NOT allow it to fall into disrepair as the years progress.
Nice touch to see that Ferry operator DFDS Seaways are helping Tony out.
I’ll hopefully be watching the T.V. transmission at 8.pm on Sunday 26th next month & here’s hoping one of you forumites will give beer-laden & Alzheimer ridden gits like me a jog (heads-up) nearer the time…. eh ?
