echuca airport last year, mum say I think that man want to talk with you, turned out to be a pilot, say do you think you could walk over to that yak-52, and climb in ! I did it in no time, bugggered leg’s and all, then graig strapped me in tight, and we were off down the runway and air born in no time, got a bit of go thoses yak-52’s, did an hour and a half flying, did the work’s, did not chunda, but near blacked out a few time’s.
great flight did not want to get out.
number 2 off my list, went up in Melbourne’s own Gooney bird DC-3 (c-47b),VH-OVM, for dinner flight and flight over the city and port phillip bay, was bloody cold flight, but I loved it all set in the old day’s, gooney was born april 45 and still going strong, just make’s me wonder, just how long can a dc-3 c-47 last, this one has some history.

Hi Stormbird,
Good to see you ‘out and about’ on the forum again, it had been a while. I had begun to fear the worst mate!
Glad you didn’t let the damned MS get in the way of the Yak flight.
Cheers, keep on smilin’

Thank’s everyone and all,
There is a very good looking T-6 yank marine colour’s in the same hanger, where they keep Gooney bird,
yes I saw a Cj-5 in one of the hanger’s at echuca airport
think I will start saving as mum paid for the Yak-52, would not tell me how much it costed, I? slipped her a 50 later, first said no that it was a xmas present,
Gooney bird I saved up and went with out a bit here and there,
got the $300 oz up finally, went next door to essendon airport in a taxi told him to wait as we were now at hanger 5, went it with my walker, as the woman at the desk,
I have MS but want to go on the dc-3, ok should be ok, that’s $299oz, got me dollar back, book first spring month, back out to taxi then home, I had done it. taxi was only ten buck’s, I have a half price taxi card, very handy.
it was easy going up the stair’s on gooney bird, taught by bader, right foot forward left foot forward and so on did it easy, and they put in the back row near the door
the airplane was full think I counted 24, 100 buck’s if you want to go and sit in the jump seat, on take off or landing,
I had a pretty good view, well back from the wing, and the spare seat next to me, the dolled up olden day’s hostess’s would sit down and chat with me, One hugged me because she was cold, and said sorry, I said no worrie’s, she smelt lovley, the window’s are down low so lean down all the time to watch all the light’s,The take off was very smooth the flight was great, she just purr’s along, very smooth landing too he was a great pilot.
And yes trying to keep up with all the different treatment’s for MS mate, at the moment I just take a very small capsule everyday, called Gilenya and it seem’s to work, been stable now for near 3 year’s, no new attack’s., and no more self injected drug’s this is so easy

John is happy you had a great flight. He’s a firm believer in experiencing new aircraft. In each the past two years he’s added two new types to his list and hopes to continue the trend.
I’m not usually an illeist as two of my cars are two-seaters so there is no room for the third person. 🙂

Glad you’ve been able to get things ticked off, SB! Well done! Hope u have much more flight time!
P.S. I’ve heard of a very promising stem cell treatment for MS. I hope u can take advantage of It!

Nice one ! Yak 52 s are a blast, a real ‘poor man’s warbird’, though not so poor actually at a litre of avgas per minute.
The trouble is, they spoil you for anything else, and something like a PA28 feels like flying a rice pudding in comparison !
Try out a Nanchang CJ-6 while you are at it, lovely handling, and more modest fuel burn.

Hell yeah! Good for you 😀
