Stow Maries

I have been following this fascinating project to restore a WW1 airfield since I stumbled upon it earlier this year. The project is on partial hold as Russell Savory, one of the owners and the spirit behind the project is undergoing cancer treatment, although the museum might open in the new year. We wish him well and his determination to return fully fit seems undiminished. I wondered if any forum members are involved?

Not yet but I’ll be putting on my ‘things to do’ list for next year! Well done to all involved. I could do with some advise on a similar project I’m involved on:-www.tranwell.wordpress.com

Yes, indeed. Have you been down there?

We also have somthing else in the pipeline which will hopefully live in one of the newly rebuilt hangars when they are ready.

Sssshhh! That was supposed to be a secret. Now the Missus is on the case! 😀

As Low & Slow says, we are looking fwd to visiting in somthing special next year. I flew the Triplane in earlier this year which was a great pleasure and we hope to visit with that again when the Camel visits again.

Need a PBO?

It’s definitely made an impression on those I know that have been – one of the chaps in the Camel photo has been measured up for his ‘maternity’ jacket

A superb time-warp – I hope that Russell is responding well to his treatment.

Looking forward to visiting again next year with something appropriate!

Have done twice this year – once at Detling ‘Military Odyssey’ and then a one-day event in Maidstone at the end of October. I/we will go anywhere where there’s an event, from Nuneaton to Italy last year!

I got the Auster Club to fly in although couldn’t get there myself. I’m down there this weekend for a Royal Flying Corps event, as I do a lot of RFC living history at events/museums etc (would have been there when the Camel flew in but it was my 21st), looking forward to finally meeting those down there, heard some great stories about the place

I enjoyed the video of the Auster fly-in. Have a good weekend there. Do you ever get south of the Thames with your RFC living history?
