Strange names

Having a break in Cornwall at the moment, and have seen some strange named places whilst driving around, the strangest one so far is, “No Mans Land”
Any more you may know,? it’s now become a sort of “I spy”, thing!. 😉

On the way back from Cornwall to Worcester my partner and I came across a river crossing. Rather large and build of stone which spanned the width of the river. Signposted next to it was “Notta Bridge”…I thought ‘well what the hell is it then??? 😀

Another place near to me is Tintinhull, pronounced Tint’nel. My brother in law lives near Spooner Row, down the road from him is a little lane. It’s called Sluts Hole lane. The council are fed up with people nicking the road sign.

I know the place, further over (but still in Somerset), is a place called Puckington..innocent enough but the number of people who have used some white paint to alter one of the letters…

There are two Bald Knobs – one in Arkansas and one in NSW.

And we have Old Wives Lees here in Kent.

Miserable Island. Tasmania. (But G.B. may soon beat that) way things are going.
