RE: strange ones
The Orange Cat is still at North Weald, well it was last summer anyway. The Cat went to live indoors at Biggin Hill for a while after this pic was taken whilst owned by Doug Arnold. It returned to North Weald in 95 (ish) and lived in Flying A Services hanger for a bit before it was sold, (rumoured to be going to Israel) and then parked outside where it sits deteriorating.
Bedsheet Bomber was last seem as a rotted hulk close to where it sits in this pic, allegedly bought by a well known UK operator some years ago, it continues to corrode away. The poor old thing really is in a mess now.
The Skyraiders were Robs Lamplough’s G-BMFC (Bu127931, WT951) and G-BMFB (Bu126867, WV181), both ex Swedish AD4W’s. These were sold to Jack Erikson in 91 along with an AD4N (Bu126912) and G-BMFB now flies as N4277N.

In the Valiant photo there is a orange PBY Catalina is the aircraft behind it a B-25 and if so is the ‘Bedsheet bomber’?
Does anyone know whats happened to either of these?

RE: strange ones
I think the light blue/grey scheme on ‘434 was a high altitude fighter scheme rather than a Photo Recce one.A number of Mk.VIII’s & IX’s were used in this role to counter high flying German Recce aircraft.
Whose was the BT13 Valiant and what’s happenned to it?

RE: strange ones
Yes that is a Skyraider, the version with the long and wide top, i think it was owned by Robs Lamplough.
Great to see all these photo’s from the Fighter Meet, probably the best airshows of there day. Sorely missed.

I’m afraid not. Dad has never painted MH434. Ok. Not entirely true. He did paint and fibreglass Spitfire for Breitling as MH434. I know it is one Spitfire that he did want to paint too.
I was also thinking a Skyraider. It looks like a 2 seat one.

RE: strange ones
The orange aircraft in the background of the B25 shot looks like a Skyraider. Tail looks pretty distinctive, but I’m not 100% certain.
The two tone blue scheme on MH434 was a PRU sheme; I’d guess that dates the photo’s to around 1987 – 1989 ish? Didn’t she have Norwegian markings added to her rudder at some stage while wearing that scheme, anything you might have been involved with Glenn?
