just watched this again on film 4 on Sky, fine aerial shots, and later B.47 footage. Be on again if anyone has missed it and is interested in watching it…

The Mantz B25 flying is quite possibly some of the best flying for a film.
Not too impressive if you’re not looking for it and aren’t a pilot, but impressive if you know the skill behind the shot.

That take off sequence following the B-36 is an impressive bit of flying from the chase pilot. That said just before the cut to the rear shot of B-36 climbing away, it did look like it was getting a bit too close for comfort.

Apologys Mods for thread creep, but if you enjoyed watching SAC, A good read is Wings of Fire written by Henry Zeybel USAF (Rtd).
Allthough fiction has plenty of action in the air and captures the feel and mood of the late 50s and what life was like on a day to day basis on a B47 wing.
probably well known in the states, Lesser here.
Probably out of print but turns up on Amazon/E-Bay fromtime to time.
