Street Fairs

In Loughborough where I live, coming this week is our annual street fair, its been an annual event for the last 778 years and is held in the towns market place and adjoining streets, when it first started there would have been just the odd merry-go-round, carousel and side stalls, however now there is all kinds of large rides and stalls and it makes for a great few days entertainment, does anyone else have anything similar, or are any of you actually going to Loughborough fair?

Regards, Dazza.

RE: Street Fairs

The same thing happens near us , the Cheam charter fair has been taking place every year on May 15th since possibly 14th or 15th century,
during the war years, so it’s said, one man and his dart board turned up just to keep the tradition going, otherwise the local council would refuse permission for it to held.
There’s all sorts of stalls, tombola , darts etc etc,and for refreshments , the Red Lion pub
