Stridsbåt 2010 "Ny"

Today I read that the Swedish FMV approved the funding of the Stridsbåt 2010 “Ny”, the future CombatBoat 90H.

It was cancelled 6 years ago, before the first prototype was finished.

The development of the twin-barreled mortar “AMOS” was cancelled altogether (both the land and sea based versions) at the same time, but rumor has it that it might be revived later this year for an armored land-based platform.

We’ve now gone into 2016 and so far there’s nothing, unfortunately.

Sorry to bring up a really old thread but whatever happened to this project? Did the Swedes cancel it or is it still being tested?

Thanks

I have seen pics with the CB90H armed with the AMOS system already. What is the need for a new boat?? I don’t think a mortar system is a good weapon for fighting high speed drug boats.

If you noticed, the AMOS on the CB90 H is at the back, while the Stridsbåt NY equivalent is in front, hence better aiming, 180 degrees turn left-right.

And it is for Special Forces (amphibious forces). For drug boats you have the twin machine-guns and the back recoilless machine gun. A mortar can blow it off…

Interesting note. Mexico is one of the biggest user of the Stridsbat 90H with 40 in inventory for drug interception and coastal patrol duties, plus some other of the improved IC 16M design being build in mexican shipyards. hope to see the 2010 NY in mexican service too!!

Where did you read this? It’s not on the FMV website (yet)

Actually, it is going to be a complement to the existing CB 90H, but this design has been made because of the AMOS (Advanced MOrtar System)

Additional info can be read here

What will be it’s primary mission? Will it be able to assist SF in conducting shallow water missions or will stricly be used for coastal water patrols?
It is an incredible design. The Swedes havbe been on a role to design new ships for their armed forces.
