I caught this on the WIX site:-
http://homepage.mac.com/lightningrodpictures/iMovieTheater26.html
Stunning video from a wide angle camera mounted to Ed Shipley’s helmet during his Oshkosh routine with Lee Lauderbeck.
Also a further video from a fin mounted camera on the same site.
Stick with it as it takes about five minutes to load.

Does anyone know what the music is used for the first half of the video?

Is there any way of saving this video to disk?
Wait until it’s finished downloading/buffering, pause playback and you’ll find the file in your Temporary Internet Files folder. Copy it somewhere else and Bob’s some relation or other.

Not “that” impressive really…. I could only watch half of it before I got bored!
You must have one heck of a case of A.D.D. ApacheFan. 😀 It’s only about four minutes long! The detachment of ‘flying’ a computer screen just doesn’t do justice to the respect demanded by a routine like that.

That is right Mark, the preformence made by those pilots is a first class achivement. I don’t think you can improve that display much. The pilots fly very close together and know what they can do with their mustangs. I can’t get bored while I see this movie!

Wide angle.

Believe me this is a class act right up in the ‘Ray Hanna’ league.
Don’t be fooled by the wide angle lens.
Think Formula 1 racing cameras.
The aircraft are much closer than they look but need the fixed focus.

I saw him fly at Legends. All I can say is superb, he made it look like the plane was not working at all but just flowing through it’s routine without any undue pressure being used on it. Excellent

Wahoooo! This is top amusement! This is also the best formation flying movie i’ve ever seen. 😎 Don’t miss it! The poor quality of the movie doesn’t bother me because what these pilots preform is just amazing to look at. Thanks a lot for posting this link Mark12!

That is amazing. As Mark V says, Ed’s station-keeping underneath, that closely, is just superb. There’s some trust between the two of them to be below the leader during those runway passes.

Nice video, nice music but it ain’t quite a substitute for 27ltr sound of 12 cylinders…. 😉

By far and away the best piece of warbird formation flying I have ever had the pleasure of watching. At the time it looked like they were much closer than the wide angle lens implies. They were glued together and the roll, where Ed formates directly underneath Lee, was just jaw-dropping.

It is superb stuff indeed. Better on Broadband though.
