For those of you who work “in the industry”, just thought you may like to know that in my weekly e-mail of offers from Touchdown, EK are now offering flights to all eligable industry staff for as little as £229 return. Singapore/Hong Kong/Bangkok etc from £294 return, Maldives and Mauritius from about £400 return. I know they’re not as cheap as stand-by seats, but for confirmed flights, or for those not able to qualify for stand-by, these are superb prices.
Apparently these are book before/flight out before end of June, but looks as though (from what it says on Touchdown) that these deals may be extended, which would be great as I am fancying a trip to SIN soon, but not that soon.

I was pretty surprised by an email from NetFlights.com yesterday also offering flights at crazy prices, althought these were with Etihad (from Heathrow) and travelling between now and the end of November (excluding July/August):
Dubai – £203
Bangkok – £339
Johannesburg – £259 (or £251 from Manchester)
Sydney – £489
Melbourne – £529
Some fantastic prices – I guess £203 to DXB makes sense at this time of year…

I see why they are loosing huge amounts of cash in each turnover released. Do they care at all?. Infinite statal aid, cheap fuel……some others are being even more stupid. Etihad at 214 return. I wonder how they are going to achieve being a first class destination, selling tickets at these price.
Cheaper going to Emirates than to Spain. There are even reasonable hotel fares. Unfortunately we only have Qatar Airways at MAD
