Yesterday i read an article in Airpower (dutch magazine) which said the Su33 was not as good as the Mig 29K for carrier based operations. (Because of the lack of AG options). The only reasons why they have chosen this a/c above the Mig was because it had proven service within the Tactical Airfore and the PVO (russian air defence). Don’t forget the Su27K is a derivate of the original Su27 and not of the Su 27M/35 which is multirole. Now the russian navy has a fine carrier and excellent aircrafts for air defence, but what can they do with it, except patrolling?
