Good evening everyone.
I was Just surfing over on another aircraft forum and i noticed that they have a sub forum for videos of aircraft. I have noticed that a few of our members are making videos of part of there flights to supplement a trip report. My idea is for a seperate sub forum to be created for the sole purpose of looking at aircraft videos commercial aircraft of course. It would save members starting new thread in the discussion area every time we find a new video.
For example im surfing a site called http://www.flightlevel350.com/index.php this is a site dedicated to aircraft videos for example i posted a thread yesterday showing a jet2 757 video now if we had a video forum it would allow people to post interesting commercial avation videos.
Id be interested to hear what any other members have to say about it and if there is demand i may forward this to the webmasters.
Thank you for your time.
Luke 🙂

Oh come on people. I know of at least one forum member who’s be more than happy if there were a video forum, albeit one dedicated to LBA. :diablo:

The Photo sub forum was set up for all images, and should include video and “The photo of the day/ week” Threads, so the main forum should be image free

I also think that the forum runs sluggish enough these days. Adding yet another board will slow it down even more.
Some of the ridiculous threads from GD have gone :D:D
Things seem a bit speedier now. 😎

A video is a “moving image”, so why not upload your videos to YouTube.com or FlightLevel350.com and then post a link on the “airline images” forum?

Exactly. Thats like saying theres no place for news because we do not have a news forum!

i think it will be a good idea because if some was just to take their video camera to the airport for the day, there would be nowhere to put it becasu its not a trip report
How do you work that out? what is this main forum for?

I’m personally not in favour of the idea for two reasons:
– Firstly, I don’t think there’s the demand for it at this stage, though that may change.
– Secondly, I think fracturing the forum further and further can cause lack of interest in the main forum and new sub-forum, for example people missing a fantastic photo thread as they can’t be bothered to open the sub-forum.
Just my two cents!

Hey Guys was just an idea really thought it would be a good idea to discuss it.

Like others have said, there are not enough videos uploaded to warrant a sub forum for videos. What about a thread in the main forum that is just for posting video clips in?

I could understand the want for a sub-forum for photographs as there were numerous threads on a weekly basis, but how many video threads have there been?
I have only noticed the one with the Jet 757, which was also posted before on this very forum some weeks back.

From an impartial point of view I think it would be a waste of time as well, but majority wins as they say, I just cannot see enough videos being posted on here to warrant it, and I am unsure as to whether it will get used, I guess it’s the same as picture threads, we have a dedicated photo forum but not one for pictures already uplaoded to airliners.net etc, these kind of pics & vids which are uploaded to different sites do not get posted enough (in my humble opinion 🙂 )
I don’t see why third party pictures shouldn’t be appreciated within the commercial forum as they have done in the past. The ‘pic of the day’ type threads could appear in either forum, commercial or images ? The reason ‘images’ was set up (as we all know) was in response to complaints led largely by me about the proliferation of image only threads within commercial discussion. 😉
I posted a little video thread in images a while back as an experiement, which met with some interest. As video is my profession, it’s maybe something I’ll do some more of, although given the current security climate having my rarther expensive video camera confiscated by the authorities isn’t something I may wish to risk. 😮
The other problem with fence-side videography is how to lose the fence ? Easy enough to poke an SLR lens through, but just try a nice panning shot with one of these…. 😮

I’m all for video, but let’s keep it within the realms of ‘airliner images’.

I think it would be absolutely pointless personally…
