Suchoi 24 – Lift over Drag

Hello forum.

With help of a member of this forum I found an “Aerodynamic Manual” of the Suchoi 24, including engine performance and drag of external loads. Of course all in Russian. As I have a few of those I understand the graphs pretty well, especially as all are very similar.

At the end of the aerodynamic section the best glide ratio is given. Here comes my question: does anyone have an idea how best glide ratio was for the F-111 or the Tornado? The Suchoi is given with less than 10 for forward sweep, subsonic. I know from similar publication about the MiG-23ML, that it has a best glide ratio of 13. The F-14 is supposed to have close to 16.

A modern fighter (F-16, MiG-29) have subsonic glide ratios in vicinity of 10.

Any idea? Static margin?
