That DVD is fantastic….don’t miss getting it if you see one. My first flight on a Caravelle was an 11R of Transeuropa from STN to PMI. A few years later I flew on a Sterling 10B from ARN to STN, in another life I used to ramp and loadsheet these wonderful craft, a true design classic and typically French I guess. It brings to mind a poster I once saw in a Citroen car dealership many years ago showing an Air France Caravelle with a Citroen DS19 car alongside, I would love a copy of that now.:)

Ahhh…. I miss those early morning and late evening flights of the Air France Caravelle to Pier 3 at Manchester Airport.

Last Caravelle I saw was about 5 years ago at Istanbul airport aviation museum, may still be there?? Non airworty of course.

Great to see the link for the preserved (ground running Caravelle) in Sweden, hope one day it will do fast taxi/runway runs for enthusiast!

All facts correct number 55! 😀

The film was taken about five months before its last flight.

Hot dang, it’s been a while since I saw that video and it’s still awesome.
Those folks do some real flying.

And I do believe it is the Caravelle in that video that crashed on landing in 2003 🙁

For any Caravelle fans out there, there’s a great DVD (cockpit flight) that has been produced on the Gabon airways Caravelle, also contains footage of the HS748 they operated landing in some pretty remote strips. The DVD can be often found on ebay.

My reference reports that the last one flying was 3D-KIK which crashed in Gabon on 28/8/03.

I think the last airworthy one crashed in 2005 in Africa. They tried to land at the wrong airstrip which was too short for the plane. Ended up a smoldering wreck 🙁

Thanks for that! I did recall seeing it at Lanseria for a spray job and wondered why it wasn’t mentioned.;)

SE-DAI is “alive” at Stockholm in the sense of being taxiable. The long-term aim is to fly it….cheques payable to the Caravelle Club, please!
