Why not have a subsection in Historic Aviation for Museums to update like the Millom, Bruntingthorpe and Duxford threads all in one place? each Museum could keep them updated where possible, It might save having to search back amongst all the other posts to find information that otherwise might become lost. I know it involves work to create and moderate but would it not be worthwhile?
Or is it a bad idea, your thoughts please.

I think its an excellent idea, there are many museums and collections who do not have dedicated websites, but have members who use this forum. This would enable museums, not as direct advertisement, to use the section as a platform to show progress on restorations or new aquisitions etc.
Although this is primarily a forum for general discussion, seeking technical advise or short term updates for ongoing projects, if is not possible to create a dedicated section – Livewirex, how about you creating a thread on a similar vein to that of the scrapyard photo’s, haunted airbases, virtual museum or virtual art gallery?:)

Likewise I could keep a Middle Wallop section updated.
I’m already champing at the bit to be allowed to show photos of an airframe that may or may not be there. 😉

IMHO, it would be much easier for the various individuals to have a dedicated thread on here rather than creating a Sub-Forum. There are already dedicated threads for XH558, Vulcan XL319, cockpit projects etc etc..

I think that I could get approval to maintain a thread for NAM.

Guys,
I posted a note to the other Mods and Webbie. General consensus is to leave things as is and if a Museum wants to post a dedicated thread such as the Vulcan XH558 thread or NEAM update thread etc then that is fine..

Having some kind of system where each museum or organisation could post bulletins on latest acquisitions and progress on restoration projects seems a great idea. The only problem I can see is that Key may view this as a form of advertising for each museum / organisation but obviously that is something for those who run the forum to decide.

A seperate subforum might be a bit of a overkill. As Peter pointed out it might be a better solution to allow museums to post their own dedicated threads, unless there is real demand for it.
