Suggestions for Hendon.

Just been to the RAFM, its been a while. Can anyone address the following queries?

What is the point in refurbishing an enourmous hangar, only for it to not be open to the public?

Why didnt the RAFM grasp the East camp in 1987 and save it from ruination, and oppose the vandalism dished out to the buildings?

Why is there an inverted Dakota nose in the bomber hall?

Why have the original buildings been left to ruin?

Why has the DH9 been moved from the bomber hall but not into the Graham White hangar?

Why isnt the Canberra in the bomber hall? (or is it a PR version?)

Why is the poor old Chippie crammed under the Canberra despite an unusual ammount of space in the main hall?

Why are missiles displayed beside the Stranraer????

Why the need for 2 Tempests, when one would be logically displayed at Cosford?

Why didnt they expand the BOB hall so the Coastal command a/c could be displayed together?

They now have 3 launches. Will we ever get to see inside them?

will we get too see the upstairs of the control tower when its finished?

The original buildings between the Graham White hangar and the main site.

And whose bright idea was it to stick yellow bollards there, blocking any acsess to the buildings?

Why the need for 2 Tempests, when one would be logically displayed at Cosford?

You have a point, but to be fair the two Tempests are quite different from each other, one being an inline Sabre engined MkV, and the other being the radial Centaurus Mk.II, they are also painted to represent very diverse roles, the II as a fighter and the V as a target tug.
I ‘spose the tug would fit in at Cosford.

Hi Ben, yes that’s the one S.1 XN962 marked as XN972 in an RAF scheme.
Hendon already has a complete S.2, so guess the cockpit is unescesary repitition.

I went less than two years ago for research.

Have they solved the problem of some curators unable to speak understandable English and when asked a question on any particular exhibit, proceed to read (out loud) the information board positioned in front of them?
Can they not employ older people who have some interest on the subject matter?
Can they not employ people who are not deaf and are able to hear their walkie talkies so as not blast out niff naff a thousand feet in any direction? (when stood 50′ apart!)

Have they solved the lighting problem in the BoB hall?

re;

Seems a bit odd for MAPS to go to all that effort, only for the cockpit to be inverted for 4.5 years!

Its the one that used to be part of bar/restaurant in Thruxton, with its tail sticking out of a lake.

I went there the other day, where has the Dak nose originated from?

Also what has happened to the Bucc cockpit? it was a rushed visit so I will conceed that it may have been placed else where?

The BA Tristar sim cockpit has always in my opinion been out of place, could well do with a swap with an exhibit from Cosford which already has some airliner exhibits.

I really dont understand why they moved the DH9a. To get it past the B25 and B17 must have meant taking it apart.
