Summer Season

Shamrock – i believe that in ‘our’ winter aircraft which arnt being utilised by the charter operators go elsewhere in the world to cater for holidays and events relevant to different locations. MYT send alot of aircraft to the middle east to operate Hajj (spelling!?) flights and the likes of FCA and TCX send aircraft to North America to operate charters there. Likewise with the canadian charters like Skyservice – MYT get some of their aircraft to operate from the UK when demand is greater…

Think the summer flights at LBA start tomorrow, as our based Skyservice (MyTravel) A320 *Shudders* arrives at 23:00 tonight while our MyTravel 757 goes *Cries!* early tomorrow morning. Not sure when our based Britannia 767-200 arrives though. What must be a crossover winter/summer flight operates from LBA this evening by TCX to Tenerife. We don’t get TCX often! Wish I could go and see it 🙁

What do the charter airlines do with all that free time during the winter.I know they do alot of sking trips but surley they cant be as busy as they are in the summer.

We’ve been operating charters, on behalf of tour companies, since the start of the ‘Summer Season’. These are not ‘ad-hoc’ but series – they operate between end of March/begining of April through to October.

There is definitely an increase in charter traffic from May, we’ve got two additional charters starting in May, and another starting at the end of June.

Ahh, but…. The CHARTER season starts may thro’ October.

The summer season, for 2004, started on Sunday 28th March and runs to Saturday 30th October. The winter season will start on Sunday 31st October and will run to Saturday 26th March 2005.

The start date of each ‘season’, is tied to the dates when the clocks change for daylight saving, generally the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October.
