First visit of the year to LHR yesterday… landing on 09L managed about 4 hours at the mound.. some firsts (Lufthansa A340-600, Aeromexico) I hear there is a Qatar B787 somewhere at Heathrow tech or something, has been there a while (never went hunting for it even though i have yet to see a 787!!)
In no order whatsoever….
First shot of the day!!

Heard this was coming in… a rare visit am sure….

Don’t think there is a better scheme on an A330 than this….

Newish Virgin A330 ..like the new amended shade of red on these…

More to follow………

yes, Aeromexico a lovely catch. Love the glint of the red metallic on the VS
Found it hard to get a decent representative shot of the metallic red…certainly looks far far better in the flesh…

Great selection Scotty. The Aeromexico 767 with winglets is mega as they say. Not many 727s about these days so another great catch.

i agree, the wingspan is nice but the body needs to be longer IMO for it too look right. so lets wait for the later models to appear :P.

Ah, so that will explain why I saw it at LHR…I thought when I saw it “Blimey, Qatar are using their 787’s again, when did that happen?!”
It was moving about the airport the other day, and may have even taken-off…so perhaps they were doing some test-flights?!
Lovely set of photos Tartan. Thanks for sharing.:)

Lovely selection :). The 787 at heathrow is parked on the other side of the airport outside the BA hanger next to 27R.

Fantastic set, looks like you got quite a few exotic birds. The Royal Bahrain flight and the Lufthansa A340? :O Does anyone know the story behind its visit?
A great variety of aircraft you captured indeed; LHR is the jumbo capital of the world, but after looking at some of those it would appear it is now becoming the 77W capital as well 😀
