Just to clear things up, I’m not criticising any of the photo’s on this thread by Mr. Judge. I think some of them are very good indeed.
What I think might have happened is that I have mixed up the threads and this has led to the confusion.

Some nice shots posted there Mr Angry.
Was going to post some of mine but as I only have a cheap camera dont think I will bother. Some people on here are just overly critical – some of us dont have expensive cameras – I just think the pics are atmospheric.
You might, then, be surprised to learn that Mr Angry uses a Fuji Finepix S5600.
The S5600 has been supersceded now by the S5700. I found that priced at just £124.90 including VAT from Pixmania – Click.!!
So, if you have a picture you’re proud of, post it, and ignore any unconstructive criticism, such as “oh cheap camera’s are rubbish, you need to spend £599 to get anything worthwhile”.
At the end of the day we can only follow our hobbies up to the amount of disposable money we have. Which in my case, is just about £0.00!!
I use a Fuji Finepix S6500fd, refurbished, direct from Fuji’s website, at about £170. I think it is fantastic value for money.

Kev, responding in my thread. Owise not fair to the owner of this one.

Kev – I go wherever I can obtain the best shots with the sun behind me.
If the organisers decide to charge for an into-sun position, who am I to disuade anyone who wants to use it? If they rented that field from the farmer and charged the same fee, I would gladly pay it! Do you make the same judgement on those that go outside by the M11 at Duxford and get much better shots?
Yes, Albert, I do. Next question?
I have only ever viewed an airshow once from outside the boundary and that was at Cosford many many years ago when the airfield was full to capacity and the Police were actually advising us to park on the side of the A41 and watch the show from there. In case I wasn’t plain enough, you’re freeloading.
RobAnt.
I really don’t know, but was giving you the benefit of the doubt regarding your skills at panning and avoiding camera shake. You sure it’s not down to the limitations of your camera equipment?
As for why Yeovilton comments are appearing on this thread I have absolutely no idea other than to think that in a moment of supreme numptyness I posted on the wrong thread.

I’m confused – how did Yeovilton comments end up here?????
By: RobAnt - 10th July 2007 at 02:51
The sun was to the right and behind me all afternoon! Were you at point J or K on this map? Or were you at the 09 end of 27/09?
Great shot of the Skyraider in particular, Richard.

.
ALBERTROSS.
Is the motivation to take your shots from outside the airfield at Yeovilton that you can obtain much better shots or is it purely the fact that you like to freeload thereby doing events such as the one Rob attended out of what little money they can make from such an event? And therefore making them reconsider the financial viability of staging such an event in future?
Not very public spirited of you is it?

are still out of focus
Not with you there Kev. ???
Are you sure it’s not just bad old camera shake & the fact that I’m not properly panning? 😀 😀
I do my best to keep up with the fast ones, but they’re usually gone before I can get out of my chair 😀 😀 😀

Problem is Rob, most of your flying shots, other than very slow moving aircraft, are still out of focus. I presume this is still one of the limitations of non DSLR digital cameras?
I however, am multi-talented and manage to blur most of my flying shots even with the help of a DSLR! Now that takes skill.

Good shots from the S5600 – may I suggest you try a UV filter? I’ve found it reduces purple fringing – there is just a smidgeon of it if you zoom in on your pictures. Mine used to suffer quite a bit more than yours does, though.
I’m using one on my S6500fd, and it’s made a world of difference.
Look at my Yeovilton 2007 pics, on my website, to see how much better they seem to be even when compared to previous 2007 photos taken with the same camera.
