Sunderlands in colour

Hi
A while ago FlyPast published some shots of Sunderlands in colour- I think in the letters section. Does anyone recall the issues at all? I’ve just acquired the archive of a Sunderland pilot and I think it contains some of those shots. By way of thanks to anyone taking the time to read this far here’s an unpublished photo of 240 Squadron’s ‘H’ climing out of Penang late in 1945.

Thanks

Stan

It so lovely it looks for all the world like a well composed painting: taxying on the outers for finer directional control of course!

Lovely shot, if the code is NS it would be a 201 squadron boat

Had this picture for years – no idea of its origin or where it was taken but quite an atmospheric picture I thought.

Yes, quite late in 45, he arrived in theatre two days before VJ day!

Presumably late in 1945 it would not be carrying full war load. I guess the guys who had flown them heavy must have really enjoyed their sudden power boost. Certainly looks like it.

Not an attitude one would immediately expect from a Sunderland! 😀
