Sunnier times @EDI

I’m suffering EDI ‘withdrawal’ 🙁

3 days now and the weather is more October than
August.

I still have memories of better days..

Its to help bleed of static charge from the nose cone onto the fuselage.

Is this the same principle behind ‘red noses’ Sandy?

Its to help bleed of static charge from the nose cone onto the fuselage.

The nosecone has serveral metal ribs intergrated into it, these connect with the fusealge and help bleed ant static charge of the cone. The black ring is painted with a special conductive paint that slightly overlaps the leading edge of these ribs. It helps bleed off more static charge.

The entire 737, 757 and 767 range have the black rings. Most airlines chose to paint over it, as you can do so and not effect it. BA for some reason do not paint over it.

Excellent pics, and I couldn’t think of a more appropriate title! 😉
bmi ERJ135s could be returning to EDI soon….

Here’s a shot before BAA erected THAT 14foot fence
topped by barbed wire…The same shot being impossible today unless one has a ‘cherry-picker’…
