Sunny in Palma

Sorry, but despite the comments about the weather being crap in NCL, there are some places where its been sunny. Last weekend in Palma for example, with the concentration on new/recent airlines.

Gotta LOVE that Air Berlin 737-700 in the Dreamliner colours!!!

Great pictures. PMI on a summer afternoon must be one of the most varied airports in the world. Love the Air Berlin and Air Europa, plus the new Maersk livery. Oh and the jet2 doesn’t look bad either!

1) Whats the security like at Palma? ( Do you get moved by police)

2) Is it easy to get to that place where you took the photos?

Britannia,

There are a few established places at PMI where people go for photos – PM or e-mail me if you need the details. Police and airport security pass by these locations on regular patrols but never bother the photographers – I’ve been to PMI for a weekend once on each of the last three years, and never even had to talk to the police never mind got any bother. Biggest problem is not the police, but no shade – sunburn is a serious issue!

Most Palma places need a car, or I suppose a pedal cycle, as the distances aren’t too great but are too far to walk from any bus routes or from the hotels. Good thing is hire cars are really cheap, still bad news though if you don’t have a licence. To illustrate, we used a grand total of 10 Euros of petrol in three days including a trip to the GA airfield at San Bonet (sp?) which is 10km away. I guess that’s around 2 gallons – just too far for walking, unfortunately.

MTL was just OK… Thurday night BHX-PMI was dreadful, but that was because it was a delayed departure to 21:00 and most of the pax were already p**sed before they got on. Return was quieter and more tollerable! Of the low-cos I’ve flown on, I put EasyJet at #1 (especially the A319s – flew EasySwiss EMA-GVA a few weeks ago), BMIBaby at #2, MyTravelLite at #3. Never flown Ryan (don’t want to either), or any of the others!!!

£65 return very reasonable in July.

What do you think of MyTravel Lite?

Camera is a Canon D60… Similar in spec to the current 10D / 300D, although when I bought the D60 two years ago I paid a lot more than you’d pay for a 300D now! Main lens is a Canon 100-400L-IS – seriously expensive piece of glass, but I’ve had it four years and it was worth every penny in hindsight.

Flight to Palma was £65 return on MyTravelLite from BHX, stayed at the Helios (approx £50 a night split with a friend) for two nights. Only extra expenses were a hire car for two days (cheap), food (cheap) and beer (not so cheap!) so a weekend in the sun need not cost the earth – if you’re after photos Friday and Saturday are the only really worthwhile days, or maybe Sunday too if you really want to push the boat out.

Serious, I’ve been around a bit… Happy to help with advice/guidance on ANY of the places I’ve been.

Best,

Andy

You must have an incredible camera! 😮

They must be the best shots I have seen here in a very very long time, I especially love the ThomsonFly, Air Berlin, V-Bird and of course the Jet2 shots :).

Keep em coming 😀

Very very nice shots, what equipment you got there? 10D/300D, 400mm? Whatever, they’re superb!

Last lot… Promise… The Air Jockland is the new Greece Airways machine, and the Air Europa has been kicking around a while but advertises the musical based on the history of one of my favourite groups!
