Nice pictures Dazza – we must have been in the same place at the same time, because I caught the Air Jockland but then left to go out for a drink.

Its been a good week for charters at EMA this week – Tuesday it was a BlueLine MD-80 operating for Scandic, Wednesday the Air Jockland 757 operating for Excel and Air Slovakia operating for Scandic, Thursday it was Air Slovakia operating for Scandic again (different a/c though), and today Air Finland has a 757 on Scandic flights as well as the Slovak! Thursday there was also a FlyJet 757 circuit and bumping for most of the day.

So you’d say it’s best probably to arrive early-mid evening, and stay til the sun goes?

The busiest time is from around 18:30 to well after dark – the DHLs keep coming well up to midnight and then there’s a quiet period before it busys up again in the early hours. If you want to see the Maersk/Star Air 767, the Luftwaffe MD11 and the TNT arrive in daylight you need to make your visit in the next couple of weeks as they’re right on the edge of the light going even during this the week with the longest daylight (Maersk 767 @ approx 21:15, MD11 @ approx 21:30 and TNT similar – the UPS 767 is usually around 20:15 so less of an issue with light for now).

wannabe pilot – Photography from Crash gate 3 can be difficult during the day and well into early evening due to the position of the sun, time wise its pretty hit and miss at EMA although Saturday is probably the quietest day.

bhx spotter – the Lufthansa Mad Dog came in at about 9:15/9:30, can’t remember to be sure but it was earlier than usual.

kev35 – They were taken at Crash gate 3, at the end of Diseworth Lane/Road, the police call by fairly regularly but as long as people are parked sensibly – i.e. not in front of the gates – then they don’t bother anyone.

Great shots Dazza! Mark L and myself are planning a road trip for the Summer, and EMA is somewhere we’re definitely going to stop off. Taking into account photography positions, traffic etc, when would be the best time of day to stop off?

Which farm gate were you in? And do you ever get moved on?

Judging by the light, the Lufthansa would be in between 21:00 and 21:30?
