Hi all,
Here’s the last installment of mine and Adam Spaldings two day shooting session at MAN. We had quite a shock on pulling the hotelroom curtains back at 07:10am… There was sunshine! Not only was there sunshine, but there was hardly a cloud in the sky. This joyous condition continued for a good few hours allowing us to shoot in almost perfect light, which was fantastic as we were both expecting poor weather for the entire day.
My poor Bigma is still poorly and in need of the Bigma doctor, so these were all taken with my Tamron 28-300 on a Canon 30D.
Anyway, on with the photos!

Excellent shooting Paul! Loving the biz jet and the SIA 777! Makes a change to see some nice weather shooting in MAN. 🙂

Many thanks for response on lens,Paul. To be fair,3 years into digital from slides,I am only now getting used to the concept of post-editing and in recent weeks have found some old shots taken with 28-300 can be dramatically improved with a touch of sharpening (and other adjustments) but the results straight off EOS350D and 400D (set for sharp) were often terrible. However,it should be said that as a rather older contributor with perhaps more time and ability to travel, most of my trips are not “spur of the moment” to my local (BRS !!) but are pre-planned and often badly affected by weather so I’m probably persevering in worse conditions than many would.Being a real fan of Ryanair “cheapies” I also want to travel light so the 50-500 or Canon 100-400 don’t necessarily suit the purpose.

Well what more can I say than I already have done Paul? Or should I say Ted?!
………. Surely it’s not possible you haven’t picked up your camera for aviation purposes for 4 months?
Nothing but class…….
It really is, Dougal. These are indeed my first shots since our little jaunt to a certain Portuguese island in the Atlantic!
Thankyou again for your kind words, everyone. They really do make spending the time uploading worthwhile and are always very much appreciated. 🙂

Awesome work Paul! Reminds me just how wonderful that spot is! 🙂

Quality shooting, Paul. That 3/4 angle you get as they turn is superb.
That’s one place I want to visit!

Thankyou for your kind words, all. Very much appreciated!
Is the Tamron 28-300 lens to which you refer the XR Di one?If it is,you’ve done better with it than I and a mate did……..both of us ebay-ed ours at a loss fairly quickly having been terribly disappointed with lack of sharpness.
It is indeed the XR Di, Barry. I’ve heard a good few people comment that this lens lacks sharpness but to be honest, although it isn’t as sharp as my Sigma 50-500 I don’t find it too bad and I can certainly get useable results from it in most conditions. What kind of camera/sharpening settings were you using with this lens?

Absoultley stunning Paul! You were very lucky with the weather, as the forecast wasn’t that good!
None stand out for me, as all are truly brilliant work!

Thankyou for your kind words so far, all.
Here are four more I’ve found. Repeated aircraft I know, but what the hell… They look so damned fine in the sunlight!
Spalds shoots the fine looking Etihad A330:

And as a perfect example of just how close you can get at MAN, these were taken on my 350D with the very basic EF-S 18-55 kit lens. Where else can you get lineup shots so close with a wide angle lens? In fact, these two days reminded me just how awesome an airport MAN is for photography. Let’s just say I’ve caught the aviation photograpy bug again! 🙂

All the best.

Thanks for an awesome two days, Spalds. See you in Weston in around 10 days!
Also thanks to Adam Dowley and Lance for calling round to the APH. Good to see you both again!
Thanks to everyone else for looking. 🙂

Another excellent selection Paul, for no particular reason the Flybe Emb190 stands out for me, but, all are flawless. Great job.
