I see the accident report has recently been published on the sad demise of
G-APRR at Blackbushe last year.

Kartman,
Here are some other pics, an elevator I spent all morning cleaning up, my flatmate Ben getting some fittings off a scrap block and a super charger.

I think they were aquired by a group associated with the Berkshire museum of flying, possibly called the Miles Collection? I did see some pictures several years ago of the parts that were pulled out from there……..Martin
I suspect that Peter Amos is the man you want to contact. Galdri, I suspect, will have his e-mail address. If not then send me a PM and I’ll let you have what I believe to be his current e-mail address.

Kartman,
Those photo’s date fom 1987/88 when Paul had it. I saw a completed 145 lurking in the back of a photo from an aircraft auction sometime ago. It had the logo Paul wanted to paint on it so I assume this was the one.

Wow, thanks very much for posting those, last time i looked at the CAA registration site it listed a different owner to Paul who bought it from my farther. How far is it from being finished, any idea?………Martin

Yes Kartman, that will be the one. Here it is under the carport in 1987/88. That’s the kitchen window under the nose. It just fitted in the garden with the wings off as the photo of the left engine mount shows.

Does anyone know if this was the aircraft that used to sit up on blocks in bare metal near the fuel farm on the north side at Southend in the early 80’s?

Shame but at least the occupants lived to tell the tale. Looks like it could have turned out far worse.

That’s a sad sight.

Any word on what happened? Is it restorable?

Really bad news. With the loss of a newly restored Super Aero in Africa two years ago (ZS-CYC) and now G-APRR, it represents a major reduction in flyable Aeros. Such pretty aeroplanes – especially in the air. I was fortunate to have flown CYC and it is one of the sweetest aircraft I’ve ever flown. Would love to own one. The Aero’s development story is also fascinating.

I remember seeing this little beauty at Kidlington when I was a lad of about 12 or 13 (I think, certainly not much more 14 at most). That is more years ago than I care to remember and I cannot remember what colour scheme it had then. IIRC it was pretty much the same as the present one. I find it hard to believe that the design is that old but it must be as it has not had character designed out of it.

I was standing at the end of the runway with my brother when this plane lined up for takeoff. We got some shots of it lining up but didn’t get any photos of the crash.
It veered to the right after takeoff and was corrected but then rolled over and crashed into the bushes to the side of the runway. Very sad to see it destroyed but glad the occupants were ok.
