Just watched the superb ‘Discovery Wings’ programme ‘An affair with a Connie’, can anyone bring the story of EAG up to date as the programme dates from around 1996.

[QUOTE=Archer]Septic, the only time a radial isn’t leaking oil is when it’s out of oil! 😮 When you need to shut an engine down because of an oil leak, it is because it is leaking significantly more than the other three.
I thought Cyclones were radials not rotarys!

Regarding the Oil leaks, it must be a common problem with the Wright Cyclones, as I vividly recall the Swiss Connie leaking oil at Duxford last year.

And, as everybody inevitably asks, NO, we haven’t had any engine failures. Precautionary shutdowns for a prop problem and an oil leak are the only hassles. And, NO, they aren’t the same series engines with which the airlines had all the drama!
Thanks for the thought and hope you enjoyed the show.
G’day
Thanks for the update Feather #3, its good to know ‘EAG’ is still in fine fettle and in the capable hands of HARS.

All the best to yourself and the HARS crew for the forthcoming Temora and Avalon displays.

She resides happily as flagship of the HARS collection at Illawarra Regional Airport, just south of Sydney.
The interior has been refurbished and fitted out with ex-QF B767 Business Class seats. Quite smick compared to her [now Swiss] sister whose interior has been upgraded for the European endeavour.
Operationally, we’ve been undertaking VIP flights for sponsors of our hangar complex project, but with Avalon Airshow coming up, she’s off to the first show at Temora with the new runway, some crew training there, and then down to Avalon.
