There are some fascinating and astonishing stories here but few to cap that of Captain Harer’s hairaising rescue and escape with injuries and burns 50 years ago yesterday! I noted he was still alive in 2005 and would be 90 now.

Not really because each item is dated so I suppose it corresponds to a number of “this day in history” programmes which bring alive an event of a particular day to the present.
It is certainly a damn good website!
