Surinam Airways has purchased one of a number of former KLM-operated Boeing 747-300 aircraft. From the beginning of its summer season, the airline intends to operate three roundtrips weekly on the Paramaribo-Amsterdam route. The route is currently operated by KLM, under a joint venture with Surinam Airways. KLM will then continue to operate the remaining two roundtrips (currently five).
Following the signing of a separate agreement, KLM Engineering and Maintenance will be responsible for the overhaul and maintenance of the 747-300.
