Does anybody know whether either of the Jindivik target drones that used to be on display at Llanbedr, North Wales (either the one that was on the gate of the now closed airfield or the one that was on show at the now equally closed Maes Atro (sp?) museum) still exist and whether they might be available for sale or loan?
Also, has any news come to light about the future for the other local exhibits, Spitfire FSM, Hunter nose, Anson project or other parts from the museum… I seem to remember bits of Firefly on show.

Hi to all,
Firstly sorry about the typo’s.
I did have a long day, I was unfairly dismissed that day from my non-voluntary job (Air Cadet instructors are volunteers) and had a lot on my plate. Thanks Badger for pointing them all out! although I did not misspell Cadets.
I was browsing the forums when i came across this post. I passed this information on and was told to post this information, as we do currently have the jindivik and are in the process of selling it for around £12,000 to the Kemble team who will be taking over Llanbedr Airfield, it has been valued in the past at around £20,000 and we have also been told that if it had its original engine, it’s worth would have been closer to £1,000,000. I don’t know much about it’s worth myself and as a favour to the squadron was seeing if we could maybe get a bit more for it!
P.S Thanks for the Welcome PlaneMike!

I am a civillian instructed from air cadets llanbedr.
we have the jindavik and we are trying to sell it, to buy the squadron a much neede minibus. the current asking price is £20,000 but this is negotiable, are you intrested?
Shelly
Hm… considering the other typos, I’m not sure about the validity of the post… unless an “air cadet instructed” is no longer required to have a basic command of the language.
Either that or it was a long, tiring day dealing with the “kaydets”. 😉

Price?
Worth more like £2,000, I would have thought.
However, isn’t something only worth what someone is willing to pay for it?
Anon.

To quote a well known American tennis player of yesteryear……..””” YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS !!!!! “””
It is possible to buy an airworthy single seat aircraft for less than this amount.

PS Should have said……welcome to the forum Shelly.

There is a Jindivik located at Caernarfon Air World (Caernarfon Airport). It was a pile of pieces awaiting renovation when I last saw it 2 years ago.
The website http://www.air-world.co.uk/Museum.htm still posts it as one of the inmates.
Hope this helps…

Is anyone also aware of what happened to the rest of the Jindiviks at Llanbedr – I had heard they were to be offered for disposal but have not seen anything come up.
I think they all have gone already, as I saw a report last year of a number of them at Stafford prior to disposal to a scrappy.

If it’s any use, theres one at the Royal Artillery Museum ‘Firepower’ in Woolwich, London, could try contacting them and see if it’s from there

The Jindivik on display at the museum and the hunter cockpit are with a collector in North Wales, the FSM spit was on ebay recently having been purchased by mr “tanksalot” in Northants ,don’t think it sold first time round. The Jindivik came with the control panel for it ( not a lap top!!) ,it may be available.

Hi
When I was an Adult WO at No 7F Squadron ATC which is at the TA Barracks in Aigburth Rd, Liverpool we found the remains of a Tgt Drone from Wales in the Assault Course. It was in the 10 Ramp/Jump and came from the TAs days as an Air Defence Regt with the RA/TAVR if this is of any help to you 🙂 🙂
