Swedish airforce considers C-17

Swedish armed forces are making a push towards the politicians in order to acquire two C-17s before 2008.

Reasons to this is that in 2008 a swedish lead battle group (the Nordic Battle Group) should be declared operative under EU flag. The current fleet of 8 Hercules will not be up to the task and the tsunami in Thailand a year ago clearly showed the lack in swedish military transport capacity.

Therefore, even green wing politican Lars Angstrom are positive to such an acquisition which is quite interesting since he represents a party which wants to make severe defence cuts. Interesting news indeed!
