Swedish Airforce to acquire 2 C-17s?

Boeing has already started production of 2 C-17 Globemasters despite no contracts being signed by swedish government.

“We’ve got enough hints from Sweden that they are to buy C-17 planes so we’re ready to take the financial risc until Sweden can make the decision.” says Gary Lesser, Boeing representative, to swedish national-tv news programme ‘Aktuellt’.

Swedish airforce has previously expressed their need for at least 2 C-17 Globemasters. The planes would be used to transport the Nordic Battle Group amongst other tasks. Both the previous left-wing government and todays right-wing government seems somewhat positive to this deal but a decision is yet to be done. The new right-wing government won the elections a couple of weeks ago so the budget won’t be realesed until 15th october – hence no decision yet.
