Hi,
Does anyone know the progress of the rebuild of the Swedish Hawker Osprey SE-AYR?
It’s remains were rescued in the 80’s and taken to the Swedish Air Force Museum for rebuild.

Hi,
Jan,
Mikael sent me a copy of his book when I enquired about the Osprey in Swedish service.
I’ve also sent an email to the Swedish Air Force Museum.
MP703,
Thanks for the link. I’ve posted a couple of questions on it.

Alex,
Yes, that´s the one. I guess you could try to ask the forum at www.sff.n.se. Maybe you will have better luck there?

Alex,
The remains of SE-AYR constitute about 70 % of a complete aircraft. I have no idea when the Swedish Air Force Museum will begin to restore her. The remains have been stored since they were recovered in 1984.
Incidentally, during the 1950s, an Osprey was stored at Wing F 21 for possible display at the Air Force Museum. After some time, however, it was decided that the Osprey was merely occupying needed hangar space. As a result, the Osprey was used as a gunnery target instead.
BTW, Have you tried contacting Mikael Forslund, the author of the S 9 Osprey book?
Regards,
Jan

Been in touch with the SAF Museum but never got a reply. I have a book on the S9 Osprey by Mikael Forslund. Is that the one you mean?

Alex,
As far as I know the wreck was recovered in 1985 and is currently stored pending rebuild in the near future. Have you tried to contact the SAF museum? BTW there´s been a book written on the subject.

As far as I know, the rebuild hasn’t started yet.
