Swiss Super Connie

I have just been told that the Swiss team planning to bring a Super Connie across from the US have “admitted defeat”, and the project has been abandoned.

What a terrible shame if true.

Just received an email from a (normally very well informed) friend that the Breitling Connie will show up at the Volkel airshow in Holland next month. That shgould be nice. When the Dutch Connie is flyable then, we might see two Connies in the air sooner as expected. Can anybody confirm that the Swiss are coming to Volkel? BW Roger

Superb shots! Thanks!! 😀

Nice to see her ‘sister’ back at Mascot today in her old corner at the Qantas Jet Base. Flying out Tuesday for any interested spectators.

G’day 😉

Just back from Basel where I shot the arrival of the Connie. First shot shows it only meters from its new base. BW Roger

On the site, it is reported that the connie should have left Paris by now and is on its way to Bale-Mulhouse. Almost at home!

She left an overcast Prestwick today at 9.50am BST, disappointing many who turned up for the planned 11am slot. Fortunately I was there at 9am and caught some shots of the take off which can be seen on the Commercial Forum… 😉

Everything you want to know about vormezeeles buchon can be found at this tread that I started some time ago:

http://forum.airforces.info/showthread.php?t=22885

That is great news of that stieglitz of your club. 😎 Hasn’t that been in Flypast magazine some time ago, or was that a other Stieglitz in Spain? It is a nice machine indeed. Maybe you can vote for it on this poll:

http://forum.airforces.info/showthread.php?t=24654

Let us hope that we all can see this nice buchon.

Cheers,

J.V.

Well, it is only a 3 hrs drive from home, and I have been chasing that Vormazeele machine for over a decade now, never have seen it, so it it comes to WAW, I’ll be there (together with at least 5 others with “Spanish “Me” fever” 😀 . Do you know where it is based? BW Roger

PS; My Spanish flying club bought an Argentine Stieglitz. It’s in flying condition, but paperwork has kept it grounded so far. Hope to see it in Madrid next month

I know that there could be much more then the buchon and other planes at the event. There are more possible visitors then those mentioned on the site.
I may not tell more before we have more things confermed here.

About the Buchon, this plane is confermed for the event and has already flown this year. I hope the owner can make it to the event. He is also flying his Fiat G46 to wings and wheels.

One note:

On the site it is stated that WAW is only a static event, but that is not completely correct. All the planes do have to fly inn on Saturday and some planes will do a short trip to sanicole on Sunday. For example: The Dutch B25 is going to attend Sanicole on Sunday so it will depart to give its display and then it will return to Ursel. So there should be some movement in the air.

This year, the amount of aircrafts that will attend will be the biggest ever!

See the tread I started on the subject:

http://forum.airforces.info/showthread.php?t=22820

I am very pleased to see at least one of you guys is coming over! 🙂

Thanks Roger S.

Guess what, my program is Basle, then ILA, then La ferte, then Madrid, then a weekend off, and then Volkel and Amsterdam (Amsterdam for the DO24). Have to go the Wings and Wheels also due to the fact that the Bouchon is going there. BW Roger

Thanks again Ren Frew. She looks lovely!
It would be nice if you could post some Roger S.
I am not going to ILA in Berlin but I hope to see her at La Ferte on may 29. That is still 26 days to go then. :p

Ren, thanks for posting. I’ll pop over next door to commercial to have a look.
The Connie is one graceful looking aircraft. Look forward to seeing one soon, hopefully.

Paul

Sad for the guys in Iceland who wanted to see her. They will have to make a trip to the UK if they want to see her.

Thanks Buddy Boy for those pics. Is someone else going to have a look at le Bourget or Basle-Mulhouse-Freiburg. If the answer is yes, could this person be so kind to post pics of the arrival. I am interested the most in the arrival at Basle-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

That would be nice!

Thanks,

J.V.
