Air Canada will launch non-stop Sydney to Vancouver flights, with the return flight stopping in Honololu for refuelling. Aircraft will be a A340-300. This will complement AC existing Vancouver – Honolulu (full set down, pick up of passengers) – Sydney service

Routeing the other way it ops via HNL as a Tech Stop for fuel. Given less than favoureable winds/weather conditions a Tech Stop on the SYD-YVR leg is not out of the question on the A340-300.

They’re using them to Asia, a far more profitable route. However, maybe when they get a few more they will. Australia is seasonal, Asia is year round (Business).

This is the second time AC is managing to offer US Visa avoidence. The other being using Toronto to connect to S. America.
