So who went and what did you think.
I went yesterday and was a nice day out.
for a first airshow run by Richard Grace at Sywell I think he has got off to a great start.
The commentary by James Holland, Mike ling and Richard Grace was excellent.
Flight line walk was great and better than Duxford as you could get closer and round the back of the aircraft.
I found that getting a fry up at the cafe was cheaper than I thought it would be. Had a mega fry up and tea for just over a £10 which for an event is fairly reasonable.
I loved the Hanger bar with the spitfire and twin seat Buchon parked up next to a big screen showing the Battle of Britain.
The only thing I would say would to make it better is maybe some more Warbirds I know that weather and serviceablity took its toll but I think if we can get to Flying Legends of the late 90s early 2000s it would be the new king of European warbird airshows.
I know the set pieces had both their aircraft moved to be put on the flight line as a couple aircraft didn’t make it. However that meant we saw them fly. However I would love to see more of that as it’s always great to see that at airshows. I think if they can get more military vehicles there that would be fantastic.
And maybe some more trade stands. As the selection was quite small.
However they have really built a solid base for an airshow and they now have plenty of room to add to it. So I’m looking forward to see what they can do next year.

Yeah there is some cafes on the airfield that were open too. Enjoyed a fry up on the balcony over looking the red bull fleet was nice in the morning.
I think a few tweaks here and there and it’s sure to be a hit with the old school airshow goers.
I know it’s tough because they have projects that they want to remain secretive. But would have loved to see the hanger doors open to see what restorations they had on the go.
hopefully this gains a great name for itself and attracts some more of the European warbird community.

My brother went and was suitably impressed; he’s been going to airshows since the 1960s so that’s quite a statement. Let’s hope for more of the same: the mention of “quality food outlets” pricked up my ears too.

A great effort no doubt to put together a show like that, and it was the success it deserved to be. I hope it was profitable enough to be worth repeating. The weather was ideal, and that makes a huge difference.
Parking , queuing in and out, all really fine. The main observation on the flying is that it was often so distant. The runway must have been 300 metres away or more, so all the taking off and landing seemed very remote, and actually out of sight behind the treeline for some of the runway.. Duxford hard runway feels a bit far away, but this was notably more so. Unlike DX nothing used the grass, apart from the biplanes in the display. The abiding sentiment was, if only they could be closer…
Red Bull were outstanding, and the WW1 Fokkers really energetic too, looping the DR1, with it’s rotary engine,!
Nine Spits were great of course.
So in summary
Arrangements 9/10
Content. 8/10
Presentation 6/10
A great show, just needs to be a bit more intimate.

Best airshow I’ve been to in years. Fantastic line up, brilliant commentary, engine run ups close to the crowd line, friendly staff, toilets everywhere, quality food outlets, easy parking in close proximity. I ended up going both days it was so good. The flight line walk was excellent as you could get up close and around the back too. The Red Bull aircraft were a real highlight for me, especially the Lightning. They extended the flying into the evening to reduce the rush for the gates which was a great move. I really felt I got close to the action with this one. Managed to stand behind Sally B, the Red Bull Mitchell and Lightning during 3 different engine run ups which was a real highlight – really got the hats flying.
