Sywell Air Show sold out

A heads-up for those thinking of going to Sywell Air Show on Sunday 17th August, if you haven’t already booked your tickets, you’re too late. The organisers have announced that advanced ticket sales have now closed, and have reached the site’s capacity. No tickets will be available on the gate.

And all that goes to prove that you don’t need the Vulcan to attract the punters! 🙂

Is it right that TT is going to make us all a cup of tea at 11am. 😉

Dave

Ha! Only if you bring some more unobtanium – Amelia Earharts hairbrush? Erich Hartmanns 109 rudder? Von Richtofen’s pipe? Or simply turn up with that Blackburn Blackburn you found the other year 🙂 !

See ya there Dave!

Word is that the bombers will also be appearing on that day at the Moth event at Woburn, not too far from Sywell, and a great day out for any enthusiast for old aeroplanes.

Excellent, thank you

I will hazard a guess that the Lancaster duo has upped the interest considerably.

I just hope the Lancs appear as a tight two-ship formation, and not in loose line astern .

Due to unprecedented demand the Sywell Airshow, to be held on the 17th August 2014 has now sold out! This means that advance tickets only will permit entry and there will be no on the gate sales. The airshow team, entirely made up of volunteers would like to thank all those who bought tickets in support of the show which raises funds for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and other local charities. A spokesman said ” we have been amazed by the popularity of the show and are delighted to have sold out! However traffic on the day will be extremely heavy (if you can – please car-share!) and we implore people NOT to come unless they have a ticket already as there will not be any ‘on the gate’ tickets for sale. With such a popular event we must remind people that the Police will be patrolling the perimeter of the airfield and any illegal parking may well prove to be expensive for you! Listen out for regular traffic updates thanks to our friends at BBC Radio Northampton!”

It seems to be getting more and more common for air shows to be selling out in advance of the event similar to pop concerts. Another example of this was Biggin Hill earlier this summer. Just wondering if this is now a sign of things to come? Like others no doubt I always made my decision to go to an airshow the day before dependant on the weather. Perhaps the less airshows nowadays means more demand for those that remain.

I’d imagine that’s why they much prefer to get the money in upfront then regardless of the weather they potentially sell all the tickets.

Enthusiasts spot a quality line up and and organisation with a good event record and decide to book early. The same applies to other established events ,its the only way to get a ticket at face value.
In contrast are the free air displays with limited parking and space. One new event which will end up packed out is the air display at Ayr in September.

I’m glad I bought mine online when they were first announced…all I have to do is make sure I get there early…I will wager a few queues will form to get in!
