RED ARROWS TO STAR AT SYWELL GREAT WAR AIRSHOW 17TH AUGUST 2014 – SPONSORED AGAIN BY THE GOOD FOLK AT FLYPAST!
The Sywell Airshow committee is proud to announce that the headline act at this year’s Sywell Airshow on 17th August 2014 will be the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team – THE RED ARROWS!
Celebrating their 50th anniversary display season, the ‘Reds’ return to the Northamptonshire airfield after their triumphant display in 2012! A spokesman from the committee said “Securing the Red Arrows again is a massive coup for the organising team – and are real crowd pleaser – they promise their full half hour display which at Sywell, with its wide open layout and close crowd lines means a grandstand view for all our visitors. In addition an example of the first jet the Reds flew – the Folland Gnat is also booked to display”.
Further acts announced include the Breitling Wing Walking Team and The Blades to WW2 Spitfires, Mustangs and the trademark 1930s barnstormers and air race! Also in this centenary year, the airshow provides the largest First World War aerial dogfight you can see in the Northern Hemisphere! All this and trade stands, kids entertainment and rides, on site Museum, racing and classic cars and more promise a corking day out for all.
Check out our website for ticket details (including a healthy EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT) and to purchase our bargain family tickets which are ONLY available in advance (2 adults and 3 kids for £40!). Is East Kirby’s existing runway long enough for a Lancaster to take of and land ? I know there was talk of extending the length, was this done? I concur the sight of three Lancasters together, engines running would be something very very special.

The one with the God-Given Bonedome and self-styled Wonky Tiger Moth Pilot – Mr Boddington – is Airboss and has been putting the programme together so deserves the credit – and to the RAF too for kindly agreeing to support our small show – well done the Brycreem Boys!
Lots to announce soon! We are only a small show so we will have to see what we have in the piggy bank. Its a balance really about having some top acts, what we can afford and raising the most we can for the Air Ambulance – its always a tough call as Blue Max will confirm – whilst I’d love to have a Viggen and Phantom in mirror formation, we can’t say that the costs would necessarily be reflected in the increase in the gate – plus we are a family show first and foremost with a weakness for shiny silver biplanes….. 😉

Well done TT great achievement.
Ditto Mike’s request. A pair of Lancs for me too please unless you have some spare time available to pop up to Lincolnshire to get ‘Just Jane’ airworthy too. Cor blimey, Three Lancs. Oops, day dream over. East Kirkby is guaranteed to be very busy this August with the opportunity to see 3 Lancs with Merlins turning. 🙂 It would take a whole squadron of fighters to equal that noise. 🙂

Very nice.
Now be a good chap and go and get those Lancasters booked, please. You might then just convince me to wander across from Woburn for the afternoon’s festivities. 🙂
