In other news my trousers have simply exploded in the fact that the Aeronautical Love of my Live – Auster G-AJRB has been confirmed to attend, her first display visit to Sywell after restoration. I will therefore be found cuddling her undercarriage for the duration of the show, which is worrying as she is supposed to be flying. Sigh….’RB…drooooool……..

Flew my Dad into Sywell for Father’s day, the first time he has been there since flying ‘RB in the mid ’60s.
He re-counted his check ride to join the club; He had just started work at the met office at Cardington (putting weather balloons up, etc) and after finishing a Night shift decided to drive up to Sywell to have a look,see. The CFI told him that they were fully booked for check rides and arranged another day. My Dad bumped into a friend there and they decided to drive down to Luton to see some other friends and while they were there had a couple of pints over lunch…
Upon returning to Sywell to pick up his car the CFI saw him and said that they had a cancellation and more or less ordered him, now rather tired, into an Auster….
The CFI’s review was that he wasn’t the best pilot he had ever seen, but he’ll do!
