Sywell Aviation Museum Triumphs at Northants Heritage Awards
Northamptonshire based Sywell Aviation Museum was a winner at last night’s Northamptonshire Heritage Awards held at Sywell Aerodrome. The Museum won the ‘Community Award’ for its ‘Young Aviator Tours’ which it has been running for the past 13 years. In excess of 11,000 young people have been on the tours over that time which are designed to educate and inspire children to become involved in aviation.
We’re a little bit chuffed!

I was interrupted whilst compiling my earlier post by the arrival of my 10 year old nephew from football practice in Nottingham.
They’re great numbers TT, especially with young people. It’s sometimes said that aviation cannot inspire the young, but if you just tap in to a fraction of those who participated you should have a good future!
Interestingly one of my nephew’s first questions was, “What other aircraft can we look inside at the museum?”
Last weekend we had some Canadian relatives visiting us and we all went inside the Varsity at NAM and that has whet his appetite for some further aircraft visits – apparently he wants to go in the Wessex.
Perhaps people shouldn’t give all youngsters such a bad press!! 🙂
