SYWELL AVIATION MUSEUM GRAND OPENING 19th APRIL 2014!
Easter Saturday,19th April 2014 sees the Grand Opening of the Sywell Aviation Museum for the 2014 season!
This free event which starts at 10.30am will see military vehicles from the Troops Trucks and Stores Military Vehicle Group and the Military Vehicle Trust attending together with drill demonstrations from the Northamptonshire Home Guard re-enactment group. A jet aircraft cockpit, aviation collectables and model kit stall, and a modelmaking competition run with the Northants Modelmakers Group are other attractions!
The memorial to those who served at Sywell Aerodrome during the Second World War has been refurbished and will be rededicated in a special ceremony. In addition 2014 marks Heidi, the Museum’s Hawker Hunter Jet’s’ 60th Birthday so she will have a special party!
With free parking, onsite bar, cafe, snackbar and restaurant and aircraft viewing area, the day will be marked in fine style by a display by a Supermarine Spitfire fighter from the Hangar 11 Collection and lucky visitors may also be able to see the Great War Aircraft Display Team practicing on the airfield*
The Museum is open from 1030-1630hrs then every weekend and bank holiday until the end of September. Entry is free but donations are very welcome. The Museum is always keen to receive artefacts for display and donations of military/aviation books and model kits.

Great display by Peter in the Hurricane even though it was a bit windy. And, at the request of TexanTomCat a photo of Hunter F2 WN904 ‘Heidi’ with myself as we’re both 60 this year. Thanks for taking the photo Ben 😀
