Hello,
I bought recently a tail wheel and its leg from a crashed aircraft.
The seller told me that it belongs to a Mosquito crashed in France. But I think it belongs to a Hurricane II. Can someone help me to identify this tail wheel & tail wheel leg ?
Tail wheel :
4.95 – 3 1/2
Electrically conducting
WM14
5014 2
31260 (one side) / 31261 (other side)
Hub :
DRG N° AHO 5048/2
Serial n° JF 100659
Tail wheel leg :
Type n° E 6583
Serial n° XZACC15168
Issue n° 10
Thank you very much for you help.

A third confirmation, definitely Hurricane MkII. The plate on the ‘tail wheel leg’ where you read E6583, should also be marked ‘Dowty’. Odd to have green paint though. See PM.

In that thread it says:
According to A.P.1086, Section 27A, a AHO5048/IX wheel was fitted to some Albemarles, Ansons, Defiants, Hurricanes and Lysanders
So it could be a Hurricane wheel, or it could be from another aircraft in that list

Hello,
Thank you for the link but it’s not very clear. Sorry.
I added 2 photos of my wheel.
Could you confirm that it’s a hurricane’s wheel ? Or could it be another aircraft ?
Thank you.
