Tailwheel UFO

The links below show a tail wheel found on a farm in Northumberland. Can anyone help identify it?

http://www.acia.co.uk/wheel1.jpg

Numbers on the wheel are as follows:

DRG No. A-H9278
Serial No. R107104

AHM309
C303A

The only aircraft to have crashed in the vicinity of this farm are two Wellington bombers and a Mustang. It’s obviously not from either of the Wellington’s, but can it be from the Mustang?

I look forward to any comments.

Thanks,

Jim

Talwheel

Hi Rocketeer!

Sorry for this but I noticed a typo with the AH number, it should read:

A-H8278.

Hope this helps!

Wheel

Hi Chaps,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have not seen the wheel myself, its in the grounds of a private estate, so I can’t comment on size or numbers on the tyre unfortunately. However, judging from the fence behind it is quite small.

I think those numbers are going to be my best hope.

Looking forward to more replies!

Well the numbers you’ve quoted sound like U.K. Dunlop parts so I would have thought the Mustang was unlikely.

I can’t pick it up from the numbers so is there anything on the tyre that might help? The size is usually a good clue.

Good luck, anyway.
