With the Tikuna accepted the Brazilian Navy has allowed the BaseMilitar team to take a peek inside its newest ship. This month’s BaseMilitar Web Magazine is available free at http://www.basemilitar.com in great photo detail of the sensor and weapons systems.
Remember to click on the “babelfish” link on the bottom of the cover page to produce a English “version” of the articles and news items.

There was recently news in the country`s media saying that plans for the fully Brazilian designed sub family are to be dropped due to lack of available funds. Also we are expecting the announcement of the winner of the next sub contract that is being fought over by the french Scorpene and the German 214 projects…
We should know more soon!

On submarine Tikuna torpedoes Tigerfish MK24 Mod 1 (future MK-48 ADCAP 6) are established.
Why Brazilian Navy refused to Saab Bofors Underwater Systems with TORPEDO-2000?
Whether it is connected to torpedo fuel??
I heard from a high-ranking Admiral that SAAB Bofors were never able to present a fully functional prototype to the Brazilian Navy. All amounts deposited were returned to our Navy after cancelation of the cointract.
