Take a seat in a Vulcan FULL POWER engine run!

The VRT has just launched a real first – a chance to sit up front in XL426 for a FULL POWER engine run and the taxi back to her pan. Also FIVE photographers passes to go out with the aircraft and witness a full power engine run close-up (close-ish, anyway!).

ALSO – please check out the new funky VRT Website http://www.avrovulcan.com

Vulcan Slow-Speed taxi-run and eBay Auction

On Saturday 11th October, Vulcan XL426 will be moving under her own power for the first time since August 2006. The Vulcan will be towed into the middle of the airfield for her six-monthly routine full power engine run and then she will taxi back to her pan with Grp Cpt Bill Burnett at the controls. In order to offset the huge fuel cost, the VRT is using eBay to auction some unique opportunties.

The main auction is for one person to be at the controls for the full power engine run and sit next to Bill Burnett as he taxies the Vulcan back. This is, needless to say, a unique opportunity and we’re expecting plenty of interest.

In addition to this, we are offering a further FIVE places on a close-up photo opportunity during the engine run. Five auction winners will be supernumery ground crew and will travel out with the aircraft and witness the awesome spectacle (and sound!) of a Vulcan at full power.

This is not a public event but if you do want to watch the Vulcan on the move, we politely ask you to park sensibly and not block the perimeter road.

Don’t worry – the typesetter will be beaten to within an inch of his sorry life! I’ll see if I can get him to change it!

Any new’s on the fate of the typesetter?

re

In future perhaps XH558 could fly in? Be great to see the 2 taxi out, and be at the controls of XL426 when XH558 lifts off in front? Or would there be a limit as to how close the 2 a/c could be together?

Nope, not me. Would love to have had ride but with a wife, 2 kids and a mortgage, word would have got back on my lavish spending spree. Throttled 558, had a ride in 655, just need acovert trip to Southend if the opportunity comes up again. I can always say I am going to Ikea!

Dear VRT

Whose idea was that awful typeface in the e-bay ad for the front seat?

That apart, what a fantastic opportunity. Regrettably not one I can take on that date.
