Taking pictures at Duxford

I have been wondering for some time where the best place to take pictures from. Mainly during the flying display. I usually go somewhat toward the middle.

Thank you

David

That’s a huge loss to this site. A great shame. I hope he is okay.

I also use the tank museum end. I dont know anywhere else where you will get a Seafire fly over your head at 100 feet!! It happened at this years show, although it was probably higher it didn’t seem it!:diablo:
Have a look at my website o see the sort of shots you can get 99% of the duxford shots are from that end.

That mound is great for getting over people with chairs, but if you arrive about 1 hour before the flying starts, you’ll get to the front row anyway (with a bit of luck). Legends tends to be busier though.

DamionB got some amazing angles from Legends. Tried to find his posts, but his account seems to have been deleted?????

I agree. Try what is known as the Tank Bank up next to the Land Warfare Hall. If it is a big show then get there early. The incline is high enough, but you can also use a small ladder. I used a small step ladder for the first time up there this year. It really give you a great vantage point.

Get there early and stake out your spot with a chair. People move chairs. I know this from experience. Always take a couple of cable ties/tie-wraps.

I took some good photos by the Land warfare hall (I think thats the one anyway) I took my Avatar from there and it came out ok.

I’m short so I need some kind of hill or rise to stand on lol and there’s a slight incline there, although the roof of the building did end up in a couple of my other pics. But that’s just me, dunno where the best place is.
