Going slightly off thread, i used to enjoy drinking in the Red Lion in Hinxton near Duxford in the early nineties.. especially after an airshow. It was not uncommon to see pilots such as the late Mark Hanna, together with his sister Sarah and i think Rolf Meum among others enjoying a post airshow beverage together. I think Mark’s usual tipple was a Guinness.
I’m ashamed to say i always used to sit myself and associated friends as close as possible to the pilots table.. straining to hear what was hot or not on the aviation scene… very interesting. 😉

my oh my…I am 99.9% tee total….but a dram of Taliskers is enuff to sway me…in my dafter days….a friend and I drank a bottle between us at a Summer Ball…..can’t remember much else of that night…not even having a very well illuminated /public pee in my back garden (new IR set off security lighting!)

Well, it was a flea pit in the 70’s and 80’s but it was a proper pub which also contained aeronutters. I went for a drink there in year 2005 and it was possibly worse. It was a collection of aeronutters surrounded by a pub.

Yes, it does.
I can’t say I’d care to stay there myself, but there you are.

Speaking of alcohol, will you be in the vicinity of the APH on Wednesday evening? 🙂
Does the APH have rooms for the night? I thought it was law that to be called an Hotel or Inn, one had to have rooms available.

I’m still only halfway through my bottle of Highland Park. 🙂
Er…and I am only halfway through….:D

I just buy dood malt when there is a special deal on,I got a couple of bottles of Aberlour for approx £14 a few years ago,as you can see – I still have one left- it doesnt ‘go off’.
I did however buy the 18 yo Talisker on a visit to the distillery a few years ago (wanted the 25 yo but it was £100 a bottle )
I only have the occasional dram so each bottle lasts years 😀
