This may be of interest to anyone in the Grantham area, it’s part of the Gravity Fields festival http://www.gravityfields.co.uk/event/dambusters-engineering-bouncing-bomb

You could always check with www.barneswallistrust.org they’re very helpful on all matters Sir Barnes Wallis.
I’ve been dealing with them re the ‘trial’ Upkeep Mine at Newark.
They also have a lecture coming up on Wednesday 26th September, which I believe is at Ripley, Derbyshire – still waiting for details to come through!

Yes AFAIK it was indeed driven via a Hydraulic motor !

Edit …sorry just re read your post, not sure if it was a turret motor,I would not have thought a turret motor was powerful enough or give required RPM (but happy to be wrong LOL)

Speaking of Bouncing bombs, does anyone know how they were powered? I recently noticed at the Yorkshire air museum display that the bomb was spun using the motor from the removed Mid upper gun but this was hydraulically operated so i’m not entirely sure thats a correct statement.
Would be nice to know……..
